Leith Howard DeWeese lives on a decommissioned Air Force Base in the "Middle of Nowhere." That's what the Wall Street Journal christened the area between Scobey, Wolf Point and Glasgow, Montana. A retired teacher, she creates watercolors and acrylics based on the rural backroads. She takes her nostalgic subjects from her travels.
"Great art starts with getting out of the truck. If you stop, there will always be something there." she says. During one stop, she discovered an old overstuffed chair, with lath boards behind it, creating a wonderful linear quality. It became the inspiration for "Faded Dreams & Empty chairs." She likes to vary her sources. Her work includes landscapes, still-life's, western subjects and a touch of fantasy. Originals and prints are available for purchase.
